Houston Golf Course Rankings

Todd Hveem at the Houston Chronicle put together a Golf Guide for 2010.  It lists a number of Houston-area golf courses based on feedback from over 1,000 area golfers.  Some of the lists include:

  • Courses with the Best Values
  • Most Overpriced Courses
  • Best Courses for Out-of-Towners
  • Best Courses for Singles

Here’s a quick snippet:

“Golfers are used to making a lot of decisions. Perhaps that’s why so many of them volunteered for the somewhat daunting task of participating in a survey that included choices galore.

Golf Guide 2010 reveals the pulse of the more than 1,000 area golfers who filled out the survey at chron.com.”

You can read the rest of the article here: Houston Chronicle Golf Guide 2010.

Atascocita Golf Club Shuts Down

atascocita-golf-closingRead an article on the Chron today from Todd Hveem: After seven months of trying to sell the property, owners of Atascocita Golf Club decided to shut down the 27-hole course on Dec. 31.

I never played there, but apparently it was a private course, but was purchased last year by a holding company that opened it up to the public while searching for a buyer.  There’s about 400 houses surrounding the course that are concerned about property values of their homes.

One commenter writes: “I lived on Inwood CC for 17 years. When it closed it became what that guy in the story feared: ant farms and trailer parks.”

The official Atascocita Golf Club statement is posted on their website.
