New Sponsors for Tiger Woods

Here’s a short clip from some dude on Fox Sports.  He’s got some ideas for new sponsors for Tiger.  (Thanks for the find Moe!)

Good Takes on Tiger Woods

It’s been almost a week since Tiger Woods’ apology.  Personally, I think people need to cut this guy some slack.  I mean, I don’t condone cheating on your wife, but he didn’t friggin kill anybody, get accused of rape, throw someone through a plate-glass window, get busted selling a trunk-load of cocaine and marijuana, not pay child support, stab his wife in the driveway, bite a woman’s ass, or the hundreds of other things that other pro athletes (and Marv Albert) have been accused and/or convicted of.

No one is perfect, but that doesn’t affect what this guy can do on a golf course.  He’s still the best of the best, no matter how you slice it.  In a few years, he’ll be hawking products again like nothing happened.

Here’s a few good Tiger Woods takes that I’ve read the last couple of days:

…Still, while Woods’ relationship issues are a family matter, his impact on the game most certainly is not. So what actions might the PGA Tour take against Woods for actions detrimental to the game? PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem has reiterated several times that Woods has not been suspended for his actions. To which many reply, “why the heck not?” Read more…

…Eventually, however, Woods will have to answer a lot of tough questions. When the day of facing the Fourth Estate (instead of his friends and associates) comes – hopefully, it will be sooner than later – reporters should follow a few lines of questioning: Read more…

“Mistress Collection” Golf Balls Backlash

Apparently, one of the women on the infamous Tiger Woods “Mistress Collection” golf ball set has retained attorney Gloria Allred and spoken out against the balls, arguing that they promote violence towards women.  Allred postulates, “What’s next, using women’s faces on dart boards?”

(Thanks for this catch Billy)

Play a Round with Tiger’s Girls

tiger-woods-golf-balls

Has anyone seen this yet?  Some entrepreneur is latching onto Tiger’s ordeal and looks primed to make a killing by selling a set of golfballs, each ball has the face and name of one of Tiger Wood’s alleged mistresses.

Their tag line is “Tiger loves to play with them… now you can too!”

Tiger Woods Hiatus Until 2012?

tiger-woods-vanity-fairJust read a couple new tidbits on Tiger Woods today.  Apparently, Tiger posed shirtless for a Vanity Fair spread next month as reported by USA Today.  I guess that’s news for the ladies.  (No offense Tiger, but I don’t give a shit about that.)

In other news, according to an article published today in Marco News (never heard of that before), Tiger partied it up in NYC at the Trump International Hotel on New Year’s Eve with 20 bottles of vodka, 15 cases of Red Bull, and a “leggy” blonde” who’s not his wife.

That article also reports that Tiger’s wife told friends that she received $300 million for Christmas and was giving golf up until 2012!

I really hope that isn’t true.  I can’t imagine Tiger taking off two full years.  It seems probable that Tiger will be back at Arnie’s tourney for a Master’s tune-up.  If he cheated on his wife so much, than it’s hard to argue that she is a higher priority than his life’s work of being the best golfer in the history of golf.  Two years on the PGA Tour for Tiger is probably about 10 victories and at least 2 more majors.

Mark my words, he’ll be teeing it up within 90 days.

Don’t Feel Sorry for Elin

elin-woodsJust read on Jay Busbee’s blog, Devil Ball Golf, that People Magazine reported that Elin Woods is leaving Tiger.

I might sound like a total dick, but boo-hoo.  Hand me a tissue.  There are at least 3 reasons why you shouldn’t feel sorry for her.

  1. The Money – She is set for life.  Whether she gets $10 million or $100 million, she will never have to worry about money again.
  2. Anytime you marry a superstar athlete, you must realize that these guys have hot women hanging over them like white on rice.  Does any women who marries a star athlete, let alone the most recognized athlete in the world, realistic think that her husband will be faithful?  Maybe, but you have to at least calculate that the odds aren’t in your favor.  That comes with the package.
  3. Millions of women have been cheated on by slime bags over the course of time, so the situation isn’t unique at all.  Probably most women have had to deal with a cheating partner (whether married or not) in some point in their lives.  99.9% of most women don’t have the option to leave and be set for life (see reason #1).

You have to think that at least the thought crosses most womens’ minds when they pop out that first rug-rat of their famous sports athlete husband’s offspring that they are set for life.  Can you spell M-E-A-L-T-I-C-K-E-T?  They can move on a helluva lot easier than most women in the same situation.

Maybe I should start a new website:  no-tears-for-elin.com.  Good luck Elin.  Welcome to the real world.

Tiger Woods Scandal

tiger-woods-cryingSo, I leave the country for 2 weeks, come back, and the best golfer of all time is totally in the shitter!

By now, everyone has heard the infamous voicemail and read some of the text messages, but it seems like every day something new pops out.

The first week after it happened, if you had asked me if this would affect Tiger’s game, I’d have said no way.  After another week, though, of new allegations, new women, etc, this story remains the #1 news story in the world.  With all of this unwanted attention, the intimate details of Tiger’s life being shared with the world have the potential to damage him on the course.

On the other hand, look at Kobe Bryant and what he went through in his rape trial in Colorado.  The basketball court was his shelter where he could suspend his real-life problems and dominate on the court (which he did).  Tiger could use golf as an escape from all of this hoopla where he’s totally focused, so this could end up making him perform better.

Most pundits agree that he should “go maverick on Oprah’s couch” and get it over it.  Until he does that and owns up, the speculation and rumors will keep swirling, wreaking havoc in their path.
