Shell Houston Open – It’s Here!

You can’t believe how excited I am about the Shell Houston Open.  I’ve never been to a PGA event before, so this will be my first time.  I’m going with my buddy on Friday morning (after we squeeze in a round ourselves).

My friend recently went to another PGA event last year and said it’s amazing how far the PGA professionals hit the ball.

I’m super lucky this year because there are some big names playing, like:

  • Mr. Super Hot (not how he looks, but how he’s been playing the last two weeks) Ernie Els
  • A not so hot Phil (I think his nickname used to be FIGJAM)
  • An on-fire Fred Couples (3 in a row, hello Champions Tour!)
  • Padraig (distant relative to former NFL QB Joey) Harrington
  • Y.E. Yang – the Tiger Tamer [insert other Tiger joke here]

The only thing I’m bummed out about is, according to the website rules, I can’t bring my camera to take any pictures.  I’d love to have pictures for my site.  Guess I’ll have to wait until I can qualify for a legitimate media pass (maybe next year).

First Tee Sustainability Program

Last  Saturday, more than 100 golfers from The First Tee of Greater Houston made environmental improvements at Redstone Golf Club with help from FedEx and Shell volunteers and Audubon International. The course improvements are part of the FedExCup® Fore!Ever sustainability program that aims to teach local kids of The First Tee about sustainable golf practices in communities that host PGA TOUR FedExCup® tournaments.

HOPE On The Green Golf Tournament

I recently found out about a very special event to raise money for the Will Herndon Fund for Juvenile Batten Research.  Will is the son of Wayne and Missy Herndon and in June 2009 he was diagnosed with a fatal, rare, genetic neurological-degenerative disorder called Juvenile Batten Disease.

The “HOPE On The Green” Golf Tournament benefiting the Will Herndon Fund for Juvenile Batten Disease Research is being held on May 6th, 2010 at Woodforest Golf Club at Fish Creek in Montgomery, Texas.

There are many open opportunities for sponsorship and players, so please spread the word.

You can download the Will Herndon Batten Golf Packet here or visit the site at http://www.willherndon.org/hopeonthegreen.html

Tiger Woods on South Park

So, South Park featured Tiger Woods on their season premiere tonight and poked fun at the notion of a male sex addict among rich celebrities.  Maybe you’re not a fan of South Park, but tonight’s episode was hilarious!  Here’s a short clip from this episode.
